A Prayer for God to Take Control of Your Life’s Situation

God wants us to come to Him in prayer in times of uncertainty and distress. He is to be worshipped, and when something goes bad, we ask Him for help, and He will answer. In 2 Chronicles 20, the Moabites, Ammonites, and Meunites joined forces to attack Judah. Jehoshaphat turned to God to take control of the situation. He proclaimed a fast throughout Judah and cried out to God, saying, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (2 Chronicles 20:12). God responded, and spoke through prophet Jahaziel. He instructed the people to march into the battlefield, but not to fight. Instead, they were to take their positions, stand firm, and watch as God fought on their behalf. The next morning, the armies of Judah obeyed, and as they reached the battlefield, they found their enemies had turned against each other. Not a single soldier of Judah was harmed, and the victory was complete.

There is power when we surrender in faith in the face of adversity. When we acknowledge our limitations and cry out to God for help, He can intervene, and turn hopeless situations into victories. We will pray for God to take control of our circumstances, the same way He did for King Jehoshaphat. Believe because the Lord is about to use His mighty hand to deliver you.

Powerful Prayer for God to Take Control of a Situation

This is going to be a focused prayer that requires you to be in a quiet place. Visualize the difficult situation you have found yourself in, and say this prayer. At the end of this prayer, you will say Amen repeatedly three times.

Prayer to Grow My Relationship with God and Get to Know Him

Heavenly Father,

I will be honest, I never completely know who You are because you are mysterious. Your very being is far beyond our human comprehension, so how could we ever truly understand Your complete character? Even with someone I know, like a best friend or spouse, I can’t claim that I know absolutely every single thing about them. Then how much more of You? With You, God, being an infinite being, how could I ever know Your character fully? But this doesn’t mean that letting go and letting You take control of my life is impossible. I want it to be a journey with You that has no end, but with each step, help me to see more and more of the beauty surrounding the path I follow with You. Father, I want to get to know You more and for my trust in You to grow stronger.

I know that the way I grow in a deeper relationship with You won’t look exactly the same. This is why I actually want to get to know You for who You are. I want to get closer because James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Help me to draw near to You, to spend time in Your Word, and to seek You in prayer.

I want to build a relationship with You, even if it means reading the Scripture and getting deeper into Your Word. As I flip the pages of the Bible, may I learn more about who You are and what You have promised me. Help me to grow in my knowledge and understanding of You, oh Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Prayer for God to Take Away Strongholds and Take Control of My Difficult Situation

I have a stronghold in my life, which currently holds a heavy influence over me. Lord, if I’m honest, I hate dwelling on these negative thoughts. I avoid them because I am afraid of the hurt that will come from truly thinking about it all. I run away and avoid bringing them to the foot of the cross because I am scared of what might happen. But I know that with you, I can identify these tough situations and bring them straight to You for healing. I believe in You, Dear God. I know that allowing You to take control of my life will help me rest in Your promises and trust that they will be fulfilled. Your promises are not empty like those of others; they hold substance and exist to be made true. As Your Word says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4). I pray for Your divine power to break these strongholds and take control of my situation. In Jesus’ name.

Heavenly Father, I Acknowledge That You Need to Change Something in My Life

I am always more focused on being in the right relationship with You when I see that I frequently fall off it. Sometimes I don’t even notice when I am running away from You, and often I don’t recognize the spiritual pride that creeps up on me. Dear God, it seems it is within my nature to run away and be too prideful to see the truth. This has made me realize exactly how much I need You in my life.

I say no to lukewarm Christianity and to living on top of a lofty spiritual spot. I want You to help me begin my healing process. I fully admit the reasons why I am running away and struggling with giving up control to You believing that it will bring light to areas in my lives that are in darkness. I confess to You, oh Lord, for as 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Heavenly Father, I confess my sins and my pride, and I ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Help me to live a life fully surrendered to You. In Jesus’ name.

Prayer for Seeking Wise Counsel and for God to Help Me Find Accountability

The Bible says that “where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14). Help me to surround myself with those who will encourage me in my walk with You.

The enemy has tried to prevent me from giving up control to You by keeping me isolated from others. Sometimes when things just get me down, all I want to do is hide away in a corner somewhere and shut off from everyone and everything. This is why I need You in my life’s situation. Give me the courage to seek wise counsel to prevent unfounded negative thoughts from penetrating my mind.

Help me to keep accountability to be able to let go of control to You. I need You to notice me, take control of my life, and act as a counsel to me. May I also be able to establish godly friendships with people whose physical presence can encourage and convict me to seek You first. Lord, I pray for Your guidance and wisdom in finding such godly friends who can hold me accountable and provide wise counsel.

But with all things, I ask You for discernment over what is spoken to me and over me. Give me the wisdom to recognize and accept wise counsel and the courage to remain accountable.

I pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen! (x3)

How Do You Keep God in Control?

#1. Through Prayer

God loves to spend time with you, so make sure you engage with Him in prayer. Talk to Him openly and freely about everything, just as we have prayed now for God to take the wheel in your life. Share your struggles with letting go of control and invite Him to help you. Our God is loving and caring. In Philippians 4:6, it is written, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Open your heart and let Him into every aspect of your life.

#2. Make the Bible Your Companion

Try your best to read Scripture to help you get to know God more intimately. The more you know Him, the more you understand His character, which will make it a lot easier to trust Him. When you immerse yourself in the Word of God, you will learn more about His nature and His promises for “[His] word is a lamp for [our] feet, a light on [our] path” (Psalm 119:105). Make way for God’s Word to illuminate your path and build your faith.

#3. Know When God Speaks to You

The Lord speaks to us in many different ways, but we must be attentive and ready to listen. Whether it’s through Scripture, prayer, or circumstances, be sensitive to His voice. He says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).

#4. Always Be Thankful

Come to God with a heart full of gratitude, even when you struggle with control. Recognize and thank Him all the time for all He has done for you, no matter how little. It could be as little as having a roof over your head, what to eat, and staying alive.

Gratitude helps us release control and trust in His goodness. Even small things, like a rainy day that allows you to stay inside and read, are reasons to thank God. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

In the End, What is Really Important?

The important thing is for you to let go, allow God to take the wheel, and trust in His ways. You want God to help you resolve in Faith and not to act on fear. Our fears are usually false, and acting on them can lead us astray. This is why it is important not to build our life according to any pattern shown to us in the valley of fear. Instead, we should ask God for the strength and patience to wait until we reach the mount of faith, and then build our life according to His will.

You have to worship God all the time and focus your heart and soul on trusting Him. God didn’t say that we wouldn’t have trouble. He did say, however, that we should focus our minds and hearts on this day and its challenges. The same God who is with us and helps us to meet today will be there tomorrow. And Matthew 6:34 confirms that “therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”.

May the Lord help us to let go and let Him take control, one day at a time, trusting in His presence and provision forever and ever. Amen.
